IREDA examines application. Ministry grants approval within 40 days of forwarding

Commissioning

24 months for WTE plants, 12 months for Gasifiers. SCADA system mandatory

Inspection & CFA Release

Performance inspection by SNA/NIBE/BTDC. CFA released based on PLF achieved

How to apply for Waste to Energy subsidy?
Apply through BioURJA Portal (biourja.mnre.gov.in) before commissioning. Submit DPR, project documents, and forwarding letter. IREDA is the implementing agency.
Which projects are NOT eligible?
MSW/RDF to Power via Incineration, Gasification, Pyrolysis are NOT supported. Waste plastics, tires, polymer waste also not eligible.
Who is the implementing agency?
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) is the implementing agency for Waste to Energy Programme.
Can Gaushalas apply for subsidy?
Yes, registered Gaushalas get 20% higher CFA for cattle dung based biomethanation plants.
What is the CFA for BioCNG plants under SATAT?
BioCNG plants under SATAT with OMC agreement and ≥50% loan are eligible for 50% advance CFA during construction. Standard CFA: ₹4 Cr/4800 kg/day (new), ₹3 Cr/4800 kg/day (existing).
What is the scheme validity period?
Waste to Energy Programme is under Phase-I of National Bioenergy Programme from 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2026 with total outlay of ₹858 Crore.
