Oxygen Scheme

The Oxygen Scheme, also called Mission Oxygen Swavalamban, is a special program by the Maharashtra government to boost the production and supply of medical oxygen in the state. This scheme started during the COVID-19 pandemic to make Maharashtra self-reliant in oxygen by supporting new and expanding oxygen manufacturing units, including liquid medical oxygen, oxygen cylinders, and storage facilities. The scheme gives big financial incentives, quick approvals, and other benefits to encourage industries to set up oxygen plants, especially in backward regions.

Objectives

  • Increase the production of medical oxygen in Maharashtra so hospitals never run short.
  • Support new and existing units to set up or expand oxygen plants, cylinder filling, and storage.
  • Make Maharashtra self-sufficient in oxygen and ready for any health emergency.
  • Encourage investment in backward regions by giving extra benefits.

Eligible Beneficiaries

  • New and existing oxygen manufacturing units (liquid medical oxygen, cylinders, cryogenic tankers)
  • Units setting up in Maharashtra, especially in backward regions like Vidarbha, Marathwada, Dhule, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg

Apply for Oxygen Scheme

  • Prepare your project plan for setting up or expanding an oxygen manufacturing unit.
  • Visit the official MAITRI portal (maitri.mahaonline.gov.in) or contact the Department of Industries, Maharashtra.
  • Fill out the application form online and upload all required documents.
  • Submit your application through the portal or at the district industries office.
  • After review and approval, you will receive the incentive package and support for your project.

Benefits

  • Up to 150% financial incentives on fixed capital investment in backward regions; up to 100% in other areas
  • Refund of gross SGST, stamp duty, and electricity duty for five years
  • Power subsidy of ₹2 per unit for five years
  • Interest subsidy for MSME units with investment up to ₹50 crore
  • Special capital subsidy for units producing 25–50 MT of oxygen and starting production before the deadline
  • Fast approvals—permissions within 15 days
  • Plots at concessional rates in MIDC areas
  • No minimum investment or employment criteria; focus is on oxygen production capacity
