Government of Maharashtra start the Chief minister food processing scheme, designed to improve the food processing sector, promote value addition in agriculture, and generate employment opportunities, especially in rural areas. The scheme is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs, farmers, and organizations looking to establish or modernise food processing units in the state.
Objectives
- ☉ Promote Value Addition: Encourage the setting up of modern, technology-driven food processing units for value addition to agricultural produce.
- ☉ Increase Quality & Exports: Improve the quality of processed food products, promote exports, and develop new markets.
- ☉ Skill Development: Create a skilled workforce for the agro and food processing industry.
- ☉ Rural Employment: Generate employment by prioritizing small and medium food processing industries in rural areas
- ☉ Modernization: Support modernization and upgradation of existing units to save energy and improve product quality.
Benefits
- ☉ Subsidy Support:
- - 30% subsidy on eligible costs (machinery and technical civil work), up to a maximum of ₹50 lakh per project.
- - Subsidy is provided as a credit-linked back-ended subsidy in two installments
- - After project completion.
- - After commencement of full commercial production.
- ☉ Eligible Activities:
- - Establishment of new food processing units.
- - Upgradation and modernization of existing units.
- - Development of cold chains, pre-processing centers, and integrated cold chain projects.

- ☉ IProprietorships, Partnerships, MSMEs, FPOs, FPCs, SHGs, NGOs, LLPs, Private Limited Companies, etc.
Eligible Sectors
- ☉ Food processing of cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetables, oilseeds, spices, medicinal and aromatic plants, dairy, animal feed, and more
Application Process
- ☉ Prepare a detailed project proposal and obtain bank loan approval.
- ☉ Submit your proposal to the District Superintendent of Agriculture Officer.
- ☉ Undergo a pre-project feasibility study and obtain recommendations from the District Project Implementation Committee.
- ☉ Upon project completion and commencement of production, the subsidy is credited to your bank’s reserve fund account in two phases.
