CMEGP

The Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP) is a programme initiative by the Government of Maharashtra, aimed at promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship among the youth and special categories in the state. Launched in 2019, the scheme empowers individuals to establish new micro and small enterprises by providing financial assistance, subsidies, and handholding support.

Objectives

To generate employment opportunities in both rural and urban areas by supporting the establishment of new enterprises.

  • Implementing Agencies:
    • - Directorate of Industries (DoI), Government of Maharashtra
    • - District Industries Centres (DICs)
    • - Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB)
    • - Partner banks
  • Target Beneficiaries:
    • - Unemployed youth
    • - Women
    • - Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backwards Classes (OBC), VJNT, Minorities, Ex-servicemen, and Persons with Disabilities

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 18 to 45 years (relaxation up to 50 years for special categories)
  • Education: Minimum 7th standard pass for projects above ₹10 lakh, Minimum 10th standard pass for projects above ₹25 lakh
  • Occupation: Unemployed youth or those willing to start a new venture
  • Other:
    • - No family income limit
    • - Both male and female applicants are eligible
    • - Only one person per family (self and spouse) can benefit
    • - Existing units or those who have availed of similar government subsidies are not eligible

Subsidy (Margin Money) Rates:

Beneficiary’s Contribution:

  1. General Category: 10% of project cost
  2. Special Category: 5% of project cost

Application Process

  • Online Application: Apply through the CMEGP Portal
  • Scrutiny: Applications are reviewed by the District Level Scrutiny Committee (DLSCC).
  • Approval: Eligible applications are forwarded to banks for loan processing.
  • Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP): Selected applicants undergo EDP training.
  • Loan Disbursement: Banks sanction and disburse the loan.
  • Subsidy Release: Margin money subsidy is credited after three years of successful operation and loan repayment.
